About Hive Bruton

Oliver & Rebecca Gibson bought Hive in March 2020 after successful careers in property and marketing in order to fulfil their dream of owning their own hospitality business. Oliver, in particular, has always had a passion for food and a minor obsession with kitchen equipment. Both wanted to create a business that was based on sound ethics, had a buzzy atmosphere and at the heart of the local community.

In August 2020 they appointed Matthew Briddon as Head Chef in order to help them to make their dream into a reality.

Matthew is as active in growing, curing and rearing his own produce as he is in cooking it and has worked in some of Britain’s best kitchens, such as Michelin-starred Heathcote's and the River Cafe. He has turned ordinary restaurants into award winners and even featured on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch. But this is a chef whose feet are firmly on the ground and who is wholly invested in producing exceptional food from as close to his own back door as possible.
